Depo Prevera
Depo-Provera Class Action Claims
Depo-Provera (medroxyprogesterone acetate) is a synthetic progestin injection manufactured by Pfizer. It is typically administered once every three months to prevent ovulation and pregnancy.
A meningioma is a usually benign brain tumor that develops from the protective layers of tissue surrounding the brain and spinal cord.
Scientific research has suggested that certain hormones, including progestins, may influence the growth of meningiomas. Prolonged use of high-dose progestins has been linked to an increased risk of developing these tumors.
This case is currently in the investigation and intake phase. No class action has been certified yet in Canada, but lawsuits have been filed and legal work is ongoing.
A national case-control study published in the British Medical Journal (March 2024) found that prolonged use of injectable medroxyprogesterone acetate (Depo‑Provera) was linked to a more than five-fold increased risk of intracranial meningioma requiring surgery.
If you or a loved one developed a meningioma after receiving Depo-Provera injections in Canada, you may be eligible for compensation through an upcoming class action.

How Miskin Law Can Help
In recent years, lawsuits have been filed in the United States alleging that Depo-Provera may be linked to the development of meningiomas. These claims argue that Pfizer failed to adequately warn patients and healthcare providers about the potential risk.
The key legal questions are whether Depo-Provera was a significant factor in causing the tumor and whether appropriate warnings were provided. One challenge is that meningiomas can remain asymptomatic for years and may also be influenced by genetics or other factors, making causation complex to prove.
To qualify, potential clients must show:
-
They were prescribed and used Depo-Provera
-
They were later diagnosed with a meningioma
Miskin Law is currently accepting clients for this potential class action. The case remains in its early stages. Not sure if you qualify? We can help assess your case at no cost.
