Xarelto

Xarelto (rivaroxaban) is a blood thinner prescribed to reduce the risk of stroke and blood clots. Unfortunately, it has been linked to serious internal bleeding, including life-threatening or fatal hemorrhages. Unlike older blood thinners like warfarin, Xarelto was marketed without an effective antidote at the time, making bleeding complications difficult to control.

A class action involving Xarelto was certified in Saskatchewan in 2018, and Bayer’s appeal was dismissed in 2019. Litigation is pending in other provinces such as Quebec and Ontario, and we will update this page as cases progress. While there is currently no settlement in Canada, legal proceedings are ongoing, and affected individuals may still have the opportunity to seek compensation.

Who May Qualify for a Xarelto Claim

• You were prescribed Xarelto (rivaroxaban) in Canada; and

• You experienced a serious bleeding event, such as:

  • Gastrointestinal bleeding

  • Brain hemorrhage (intracranial bleeding)

  • Uncontrolled internal bleeding requiring hospitalization

  • Fatal bleeding (family members may bring claims on behalf of deceased loved ones)
